Paver Maintenance – After Installation

  1. Initial Sweep:
    • Use a broom to remove loose debris like dirt, leaves, and dust.
  2. Rinse with Water:
    • Use a garden hose to rinse the pavers, helping to remove finer particles.
  3. Apply Cleaning Solution:
    • Mix a paver-friendly cleaning solution with water.
    • Apply the solution using a sprayer or watering can.
  4. Scrub the Surface:
    • Use a stiff-bristle brush to scrub the pavers, focusing on stains and dirt buildup.
    • Avoid using wire brushes to prevent surface damage.
  5. Rinse Thoroughly:
    • Rinse the pavers again with a garden hose to wash away the cleaning solution and loosened dirt.
  6. Treat Stubborn Stains:
    • For oil, grease, or other stubborn stains, apply a specialized paver stain remover.
    • Follow the product instructions for the best results.
  7. Re-Sand the Joints:
    • After cleaning, you may need to reapply joint sand to maintain stability.
    • Sweep the sand into the joints and compact it with a plate compactor.
  8. Seal the Pavers:
    • Once clean and dry, consider applying a sealer to protect the pavers and enhance their color.
    • Follow the sealer manufacturer’s instructions for application and drying times.
  9. Regular Maintenance:
    • Sweep and rinse pavers regularly to prevent dirt buildup.
    • Reapply sealer every 1-2 years or as recommended by the manufacturer.
