Paver Maintenance – After Installation
- Initial Sweep:
- Use a broom to remove loose debris like dirt, leaves, and dust.
- Rinse with Water:
- Use a garden hose to rinse the pavers, helping to remove finer particles.
- Apply Cleaning Solution:
- Mix a paver-friendly cleaning solution with water.
- Apply the solution using a sprayer or watering can.
- Scrub the Surface:
- Use a stiff-bristle brush to scrub the pavers, focusing on stains and dirt buildup.
- Avoid using wire brushes to prevent surface damage.
- Rinse Thoroughly:
- Rinse the pavers again with a garden hose to wash away the cleaning solution and loosened dirt.
- Treat Stubborn Stains:
- For oil, grease, or other stubborn stains, apply a specialized paver stain remover.
- Follow the product instructions for the best results.
- Re-Sand the Joints:
- After cleaning, you may need to reapply joint sand to maintain stability.
- Sweep the sand into the joints and compact it with a plate compactor.
- Seal the Pavers:
- Once clean and dry, consider applying a sealer to protect the pavers and enhance their color.
- Follow the sealer manufacturer’s instructions for application and drying times.
- Regular Maintenance:
- Sweep and rinse pavers regularly to prevent dirt buildup.
- Reapply sealer every 1-2 years or as recommended by the manufacturer.
